THIS MONTH WE ARE BACK AT THE FED 

Please join the Houston Chapter of the International Association for Energy Economics (IAEE) on Thursday, May 21 for our monthly meeting.

 

 

Jim Griffin will speak on his new book A Smart Energy Policy.

You may pre-pay for your registration with a credit card, or you may indicate that you will pay via cash or check at the door. If you are registering or purchasing tickets for your colleagues, please provide the name of each person in your party. Registration closes 24 hours in advance of the meeting.

LOCATION: The meeting will take place at the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas, Houston Branch. Doors open at 11:30 a.m. for networking. Lunch is served at noon. The talk will be followed by a brief Q&A session. Please note: Guest parking for the Fed is temporarily located at 900 Gillette (the corner of W. Dallas and Gillette, just south of the bldg.). Use the pedestrian gate on Gillette to access the Bank and proceed to the third floor guest lobby of the parking garage.

 

ABOUT THE SPEAKER: Dr. James Griffin holds the Bob Bullock Chair in Public Policy and Finance and is Director of the Bush School's Program in the Economics of Public Policy at Texas A&M. Previously, he was the Cullen Professor of Economics before moving to the Bush School in 2001. Dr. Griffin is a fourth generation Texan and enjoys ranching on his spare time. He holds a BA in mathematics and economics from Southern Methodist University ('66) and a PhD in economics from the University of Pennsylvania ('70). He is a Humboldt Fellow, a member of Who's Who in Economics, and serves on the editorial board of three economics journals. His research has resulted in five books and over 50 refereed journal articles. His research interests span a variety of public policy areas ranging from energy policy to the effects of technological change on various industries. He has maintained a long-standing interest in energy policy, having co-authored the leading textbook in the field. Currently, he is completing a book on energy policy and oil security to be published by the American Enterprise Institute. Through his affiliation with LECG, he has had considerable experience as a consultant on antitrust and regulatory matters.
